Discovering Izu Peninsula, Japan

IZU PENINSULA:

Want to escape the stress of the city? Try the relaxed atmosphere of the Izu Peninsula! Its a 3-hour train trip from Yokohama to Izukyu-Shimoda. Definitely, its a place where you can simply take a day trip to explore the place.

Right at the tip of Izu Peninsula

The train trip boasts their superview windows to allow you take snapshots along the way. Ask the JR line to know more about this.

The place is laid-back. Few people walk the streets, but stores are kept busy. The folks are busily taking their own time to enjoy their days as well.

Shimoda place

In our case, we took a farther adventure by taking a bus to check the Irozaki lighthouse. Irozaki ligthouse is located at the tip of the Izu Peninsula and takes an almost hour drive from the Izukyu-Shimoda. From the bus stop, be prepared for a 20-minute hike going to the top of the rocky hill. Don't worry, the walkway is paved and your hiking is all worth it. You'll not really sweat a lot due to chilly weather. At the top, you could get a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean with dramatic rock formations, as I to describe. Just perfect for your worry-free day. Bring out your camera and start for tons of selfies.

Irozaki Lighthouse

A shrine is located at the area, and if you are a solemn person, its a good place to reflect on things.

Boat area is located at the entrance of the hiking path. If you have ample time, go take a walk and discover the normal lives of the folks. For photographers, it could be your subject for your landscape ideas.

Complete your Irozaki trip by dining on their local Japanese food. We found it just at the entrance of the hiking path. You'll surely love their homemade meals. Dont forget to try their seashells and squid, and the creamy ice cream as well!

Discover another lighthouse by taking a 20-minute bus trip from Izukyu-Shimoda to Tsumekizaki. As a tip, get discounted bus tickets in the tourist information center in the train station.

Tsumekizaki Lighthouse

During the months of December and January, the Tsumekizaki lighthouse area is filled with the scent of dafodils. Take a stroll on their Narcissus Garden. Its free. Also, check the columnar joint, "Tawara-iso". You'll need to work on your joints here because of a simple hike going to the lighthouse.

Ja!

Let me know your experience inthe Izu Peninsula. Cheers!
